Living Out the Long Haul of Grief - With Aly
Aly Bird is a Decent Fucking Human and author of a book called Grief Ally. Want to guess why it's called Grief Ally? It's because people don't know how to best support loved ones when they suffer a traumatic loss, and Aly suffered a traumatic loss.
Aly and her husband were a power couple. Maybe not with the fame of Taylor Swift and whoever that football player guy is, but they felt like they could do anything together. The evidence backed it up too, at least until she received a phone call telling her that he'd had an accident and died.
Aly knows people are well-intentioned, but one person just can't eat that much. A meal is cool, but when there's food going bad in the fridge because you rarely allow yourself second lunch, and you're trying to grieve and do the million other things you have to do after an unexpected death, another meatloaf might not be the best option.
So what do you do? Well you listen to this episode and maybe buy Aly's book. It's better to have it before you need it than, than to need it and not have it. Ya dig?
